Application Process and Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships are available to cover all or part of tuition of those whose financial circumstances would otherwise prevent their attendance. KACDL contributes funds to NCDC for two such scholarships each year. However, NCDC makes all decisions regarding acceptance into the program and who receives scholarship assistance.

Anyone interested must apply through NCDC using their website linked above. Note: all applications must go through NCDC using their website, KACDL cannot apply for you. NCDC usually notifies those who are accepted by the beginning of April. There is not a formal application deadline, but the earlier you apply the better.

If you would like to be considered for scholarship assistance, be sure to complete the scholarship request on the application form. Scholarships cover tuition and housing, but not other travel expenses. All scholarship recipients must share a room with another participant. Lunch is typically provided as part of the program.

Although KACDL does not make decisions regarding program acceptance or for scholarship recipients, we do provide input to NCDC. To allow us to give that input, please print a copy of the application and scholarship request (AFTER you submit them through the NCDC website) and mail them to KACDL via the U.S. Postal Service to:

KACDL
P.O. Box 484
Olathe, KS 66051

Remember, if you do not first submit the application through the NCDC website but mail it to KACDL instead your application will not be considered by NCDC and you will not be accepted. If you do not mail your application to KACDL after you apply through the NCDC website, we will not be able to provide input on your application to NCDC. All scholarship funds are administered by NCDC, KACDL cannot give funds directly to KACDL participants who are awarded a scholarship.

This experience has changed my life. The quality of the programming and instruction are incomparable, and I learned more here than I thought possible.

Not only have my skills been increased vastly, but I have also discovered a family of dedicated people to whom I can turn for help within the field…. It is rare that a person gets to learn so much from such enlightened people.

You folks not only taught skills, but you have imparted great confidence. I can’t thank you enough.

I will never try a criminal case the way I did before attending the NCDC…[It] changed my outlook on the practice of criminal law…made me a better trial lawyer and a better person.”
